We found that three related phenomena, implicit bias, identity anxiety, and stereotype threat, explained the "why,"; this research suggested possible interventions.

We synthesized the research and began to bring the interventions to each of the domains we were concerned about: schools, courts, prosecutors, health care providers, and media content producers.

Our work in these contexts unearthed a clear pattern. These dynamics were also at play internally in the workplace. And if they were not addressed there, progress would be limited.
